Ninety per cent of Trini men do not like skinny, bony looking women. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that you should strive to look like Fat Albert’s long lost twin. However, what I have observed is that many women in T&T are literally starving themselves and performing countless hours of aerobics in an effort to resemble one of those half-starved models you see on foreign catwalks. If you ask most men, they will tell you that curves on a woman do make a significant contribution to her overall sex appeal. For example, an attractive woman, with good posture, will have the almost straight line of her back abruptly broken by the sexy curve of a well-developed gluteus maximus (butt).

For me, the curves of well-shaped hamstrings on a woman make it the most sensuous body part. Which man in his right mind wants a woman who is straight all over? Read the writing on the wall—muscle is what gives you curves.

Appreciating muscularity
Have you ever noticed the difference in muscle tone between marathon runners and sprinters? Most distance runners have an emaciated look, as compared to sprinters, who are usually very curvy and muscular, a look undoubtedly brought on by explosive body movement and a strict weight training programme. In all fairness to distance runners, the nature of their sport requires that their bodies be light and not carry enormous muscle mass. The above should not be taken out of context; I am not suggesting you give up your weekly 40 minute sessions of cardio and concentrate on sprinting and weight training.

I am merely stating that you should strike a nice balance and don’t lose precious muscle mass by running yourself into the ground everyday; if you do this, you will look straight, skinny and flabby.

Striking a balance
Even though fitness can be specific or general, true fitness is not defined only by endurance; you must also possess the components of strength and flexibility. Usually, when you have all three components in proper balance, it contributes to a more attractive body shape. Okay, so I have convinced you to add some weight training to your programme, in order to build up your muscle percentage. The best exercises for adding slabs of quality muscle to your body are free squats, clean and press, dead lifts and bench press. These are all compounds movements that recruit several muscle groups in their execution.

In addition to this, women should also perform lunges and a variety of chest, back, shoulder and arm movements that would add to a more toned, athletic look. I would suggest that you weight train at least three times per week, apart from your weekly cardio workouts. You should also put aside one day for explosive body movements like sprints, which will do wonders for enhancing leg muscle tone as well as core strength. Keep training.

The world of bodybuilding is a very complicated yet exciting one. First of all bodybuilders are athletes in every sense of the word; they have to train as hard and maybe even harder than some other athletes to get their bodies in perfect shape for competition. Bodybuilding is very hard to do as well, it requires a lot of dedication and determination and the willpower to keep at it. Bodybuilders have to train for many years to get their bodies into just the right shape and size to be able to win events. Some people use their minds to earn an income, some a certain skill they have and bodybuilders are those few people who try to earn a living through their bodies.

There are other professions where people use their bodies to earn a living but since this is a family friendly article we will leave those professions out of it. What is very odd about the sport is the almost widespread and very prevalent use of steroids in the world of bodybuilding. Steroids are a strange drug, because along with making a bodybuilder’s muscle mass increase by large amounts it also can have serious health side effects. This fact of ill health effects from using steroids is disputed by many websites; one in particular called www.steroid.com says that a lot of health effects are usually just media hype and steroids do not actually cause any harm if taken correctly.

We all know why the use of performance enhancing drugs like steroids are banned from professional competition but they don’t seemed to be banned from bodybuilding. The biggest reason behind their use is banned in professional sports is that they can give an athlete an unfair advantage over his/her rivals.

The above mentioned website; www.steroid.com seems to be a big supporter of using steroids correctly and in a safe manner, as the name is evident they are strong advocates of the drug. It is claimed that there are a lot of myths surrounding the use of steroids and one thing, which they do caution against, is the use of steroids in younger athletes who have not fully matured yet. The website has whole articles dedicated to not using the drug until the body has fully developed. One particular article which caught my eye was on Anabolic Steroids and the health effects or as they claim the so-called ill health effects from their use.

There is a pretty extensive list of side effects and a rebuttal for each one is given in this particular article. If I start to mention all the side effects and why this site claims they aren’t harmful this article will become 15 pages long. But I just wanted to mention a few side effects that are in this article; Inhibition of natural hormones, liver damage, Gynocomastia (Development of breast tissue in males), Roid Rage, Cardiovascular Problems, Virilisation (Development of male characteristics in women), stunted growth, prostate enlargement, and many others. There are 14 possible side effects mentioned in the article and if anyone wants to read about all of them they can go to: http://www.steroid.com/side.php, which is where I took the above side effect list from.

Now that is a long list of side effects. Most medicines have one or two major side effects and those side effects are clearly mentioned in the accompanying literature. The side effects from medicines are more understandable because a person takes a medicine to get better from something that is wrong with them. The issue with steroid use is that it is purely for enhancement purposes. People don’t take them to get better from something ailing them; they take them to make themselves bigger and stronger. Now I don’t know about most people out there, but even if we were to believe all the rebuttals and claims that all those side effects are largely untrue, would most people be comfortable with taking something that has potentially so many side effects?

That could be the problem with bodybuilders though; maybe the desire to become bigger and win tournaments and competitions is so great that in order to reap the rewards they are willing to put their bodies to the test of something that has so many side effects. It seems to be that only very few bodybuilders can get that big without the use of steroids and this seems to be particularly true for women bodybuilders. I am no doctor or scientist but I’m not sure women’s bodies were meant to carry such large amounts of muscle mass. Even men’s bodies weren’t meant to carry that much muscle mass. If a bodybuilder gains a very large body without the use of steroids then that is very good for that person, but to those who do use steroids, they should certainly give a very serious cautious thought to the mentioned side effects because even if one of them is true it can effectively ruin an athlete’s life permanently.

The Muscle Mass is a breakthrough bodyweight training and muscle building system designed, developed and tested by Mike Thiga. The system is targeted at individuals who want to build muscles fast without incurring a lot of costs associated with gym training and gym equipment.
You can as well forget Spartan workouts, endless hours in the gym without seeing results. A fact not known to many people is that Bodyweight Training has been proven to have greater muscle building capabilities than weightlifting.

The program’s premise is the use of bodyweight training exercises and protocols. Your need not possess prior bodyweight training experience to benefit from The Muscle Experiment. The program will present you with a unique opportunity to learn facts about your body. For instance, exercises that move the body usually fire more muscle fibers than external weight exercises!

The thing I found interesting about Mike’s story is that he faced some serious obstacles as he tried to build muscle. The guy has a withered right arm! But that didn’t stop him. However, in using the program, he was able to add 39lbs of muscle in less than six months.

The program also provides you with 7 bonuses, one of which is the bodyweight exercise database, a collection of the most comprehensive body building exercises.

There are countless studies on the benefits of this kind of training and you will discover the numerous benefits of the programme. Infact, its not a new age thingy, there is even a case study of a guy from the US NAVY who used the same routines back in 1965 to build muscles the same way!

Forget about expensive gym equipment. The only reason many people purchase weight equipment and machines in the first place is because they allow themselves to be swayed by weight lifting books and magazines, and always fall for some of the “always new wonder machines” being advertised and hyped on TV. However with constant repetitions, our bodies get used to the repetitions, the exercises fail to give us the benefits we are looking for. But every time we use bodyweight exercises and routines, you will always succeed, every single time.

Forget about being naturally skinny or overweight. You just have to try the muscle experiment for yourself. The program is already helping alot of people and the results speak for themselves
I’ve gone through the complete program myself, and I’m honestly blown away. If you’re looking for a brain dead simple guaranteed way to build muscle fast, you should definitely check out the muscle experiment, the only bodyweight training and muscle building program you will ever need.

Aging is inevitable, but a healthy lifestyle can definitely slow down the process.

Building muscle over 40 can be more challenging than in your younger years due to a variety of factors, including reduced muscle fibres, decreased skin elasticity, metabolism and energy. If you have been inactive for a few years and have not made a conscious effort to eat well, you’ll likely have lost a lot of strength (while gaining fat).

So when a guy over 40 signs up for personal training, you know he means business. Getting your headspace and schedule ready to kick-start a fitness change can take a couple of years of psyching yourself up. But one of the best things about men of this age is that they are usually humbled by the sudden challenge of their expanding waist line, something that was never a problem in their 30s. Revving up the metabolism is not just about will power. The reason that calories are being stored instead of burnt is lifestyle-related, but there are definitely ways to overcome this. For example, time management. Between job and family commitments, schedule in a solid hour to exercise, five days a week. Hire a trainer to set you up with a fast, effective muscle-building program that works a couple muscle groups at the same time (like lunge with a medicine ball twists or bicep curls). Train in a place where your kids can join you. Low impact exercises using your own body weight are a great way to spend quality family time together.

Injuries are something else to consider. By the time a man hits 40, there’s almost always something that needs to be worked around in his training. There are lots of ways to do an intensive workout while staying safe. Be creative and try new things. Start with a lighter weight and step it up when you get more confident.

For many exercisers, recovery time has the biggest impact on your training as you get older. Recovery takes longer — you can’t just “deal with it” like you may have been able to in your 20s. Successful training needs to include a recovery system with walking, icing, stretching and rest.

Diet is also important. Learn about nutrition and how to cook from home. Single men over 40 often experience weight gain as a result of routine eating in restaurants. “Resting metabolic rate (RMR) decreases about two to five per cent every decade past age 30, which amounts to about 50-100 fewer calories burned per day. Starting at age 40 in women and 60 in men, we lose six to eight per cent of our muscle per decade,” says Sheri Barke, MPH, a registered dietitian in private practice in Southern California.

Leg muscles support body weight when doing most activities, like walking, running and jogging. Building the leg muscles will strengthen the body and build endurance. Because the leg muscles are the largest in the body, building these muscles raises the metabolism.
A raised metabolism means the body burns more calories even when resting and so benefits weight loss. All aerobic exercises improve leg muscles. Aerobic activities like walking, running, jogging, skiing, tennis, football and most ball games build and tone leg muscles. Exercises like lunges, squats and leg extensions target specific muscles and should be included as part of an overall exercise workout. Normal daily activity requires the use of leg muscles. Unless you are very active, 3-4 overall body workouts each week is sufficient and about 15 minutes per session doing specific leg exercises.

Lunge

Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, arms at your sides. Inhale and take a large step backward with the left foot to a point where your left knee is a few inches above the floor (or as close as you can comfortably go) and your right knee does not extend past the toes of your right foot. Your hands, with or without dumbbells, remain at your sides; your gaze is forward. Exhale and step forward with the left leg returning to the starting position. Finish all reps with the left leg before repeating with the right. To make the movement less difficult, alternate legs. Repeat to muscle fatigue (in the range of 12 to 20 reps).

Step-Ups

Place your right foot flat on the step and your left foot flat on the floor. Exhale and push off as little as possible with the left foot as you bring both feet up to step level (you’ll now have two feet on the step). Inhale and lower your left foot back down to the floor. Work with body weight only, and repeat to muscle fatigue regardless of the number of reps. Repeat with the legs reversed. While step-ups are a great toning exercise, they also serve as a warm up for squats and lunges, and should therefore be done in a higher rep range with no added resistance.

Squat

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart holding your hands or dumbbells at your sides. Your head is straight, the natural arch maintained in your back. Inhale, swing the weights (or your bare hands) slightly forward for balance while bending at the knees and hips to a sitting position (or as low as you can go and still maintain balance). Be sure the buttocks don’t drop below the level of your knees, and your knees do not extend past your toes. Exhale and slowly return to a standing position, allowing your hands to drop back down to your sides. Repeat to muscle fatigue (in the range of 12 to 20 reps).

Steroids are somewhat considered as synthetic derivatives found in male sex hormones which are known to man as testosterone and are usually taken in order to improve the size and strength of muscles. Though some may not admit it but there are a lot of bodybuilders and also known personalities that uses steroids in order to get muscle gain. Testosterones are the ones that are responsible for building muscles and tissues focused for the males. Steroids are the ones that boost the building process of muscles by enhancing the number of testosterone in the body.

Steroids also affect the growth of organs for reproductive in order to enlarge the penile length and prevent the development of facial and pubic hair. Some people would opt to using steroids because of the rate or degree of faster mass increase and fat loss. Despite that, steroids are also believed to cause several effects which contribute problems to the body which is usually the reason why it is incorporated in bodybuilding phases. Psychological and physical damage can be the effects of steroids in the body and this reason overshadows the need for superficial disadvantages.

Steroids are also used in healthcare facilities to reduce the effects of any inflammatory process going inside the body. It can also cause some symptoms of certain diseases to be diminished. Inhalers made from steroids decreases deaths due to asthma and other respiratory obstruction; injections of steroids can be useful in treating pains from ligaments and joints. However, steroids are also responsible for making the bodys immune system less active which is why it is considered as an anti-inflammatory drug.

Effects of abused steroid use can result to the following side effects:

Increased blood pressure

Reduce the level of high density lipoprotein which is considered as good fats

Obliteration of the liver

Testicle contraction in males

Uterus and breast contraction in females

Impotency and infertility in both females and males

Mood swings that are irrepressible which includes belligerence and irritability

No matter how you see it, steroid use should be avoided because of the possible adverse effects that it might contribute to your body in the long run. The effect is irreparable. It is more advisable that you be included in an exercise program that is steadily healthy, educated, and gives the chance for the person to improve muscle growth in the most natural way.

After mentioning these side effects, do you still want to do it the hard way or the easy way out which can be pretty life threatening. Some of the other side effects due to muscle gaining that can be acquired through the use of steroids are:

Anaphylactic shock
Unusual bleeding or hemorrhage
Unpleasant odor of breath
Persistent headaches
Cholesterol levels which are fluctuating
Fetal damage (if pregnant)
Regurgitation with blood
Diarrhea
Morbid fluid accumulation or edema
Excessive calcium levels or low calcium levels
Injuries that are delayed
Impotence
Irregularity in menstrual periods
Jaundice
Breast swelling or soreness that may eventually lead to breast cancer
Atrophy of the testicles
Injuries of the ligaments
Stones in gallbladder
Nausea and vomiting
Blood poisoning or septic shock
Abnormal urinary retention or excretion
Painful reproductive organs (male)
Insomnia
Problems regarding sexuality

It is a fact that body builders gain muscles at a very fast rate. So, just how do they do this and why cant you have the same results? Basically, body builders know the techniques on how to gain muscles at a very fast rate. In fact, two months before a body building competition, you will see that they have body fat and their muscles arent really defined. However, when the day for the competition comes, you will see that they are incredibly ripped.

So, just what are the secrets for gaining muscles at a very fast rate?

Actually, it’s not really a secret. You may not be properly doing the exercises and following your program by the book. A lot of people make mistakes when it comes to building muscles and gaining muscle mass.

For example, a lot of people think that doing each exercises at a very fast rate will increase their muscle mass. However, this is a sure fire way to slow down muscle growth. Slow rep speed is one of the keys to muscle growth. Slow is good when it comes to lifting weights. For example, when you do bench presses, make sure that you lift the barbell in a slow, controlled, and smooth movement. The slower you go, the more muscle contractions there is. And, with more muscle contractions, the more you promote muscle strain which will in turn promote muscle growth.

Another key to muscle growth is control. Never throw your weight around and never ever throw the weights you are lifting around too. This is not only inefficient when it comes to promoting muscle growth, but it is also dangerous and may result in muscle and joint injuries.

Lots of people think that eating lots of meat is bad. However, it is only bad if you are a couch potato. With exercise, meat, especially beef, will actually do you good than harm especially when it comes to muscle growth. Meat contains protein and protein promotes muscle growth and muscle tissue repair.

Resting is another key to muscle growth. A lot of people think that exercising the same muscles everyday will promote muscle growth. However, this is exactly the complete opposite of what you are aiming for. Instead of promoting muscle growth, it will make the muscle smaller. You have to remember that whenever you work out, you injure your muscles.

Injuring the muscles means that the body will repair the muscles by replacing it with larger and much stronger muscle tissues. And, the best way to promote muscle tissue repair and muscle growth is by resting. It usually takes two to three days for the muscles to regenerate. So, never exercise the same muscles everyday. Give it a rest for at least two days.

These are some of the secret techniques employed by body builders all over the world and these are the techniques on how they gain muscles rapidly. So, if you also want to gain muscles, you might want to keep these tips in mind.

Always remember that proper execution, control, high protein diet, and rest are some of the ways on how to promote muscle growth fast. With these tips in mind, you can be sure that you will gain muscle and strength in no time at all.

Have you ever wanted to have that great looking body that you can be proud of? Do you want to have big muscles or just a greatly defined body that everyone will admire? Well, you have to remember that just lifting weights in the gym is not enough for you to gain muscles.

You have to remember that there is different exercise programs suited for different people. There are specific exercises for losing weight and burning fat, and there are also exercises designed for weight gain. You will even see exercises for strength training.

If you want to gain muscle mass, then you have to do body building exercises. In body building exercises, you will have a series of exercises in a day and a different one the next day. Usually, body building exercises will have 3 exercise days. On each day, different muscle groups will be targeted. However, the abs should be exercised everyday as this is considered to be one of the most important muscle groups that you need to exercise and it is also one of the hardest.

On day one, the chest and triceps are the muscle groups that you need to exercise. For the chest exercise, you will need to do at least four to five different chest exercises that will target different parts of the chest. The same goes for the triceps. Do 10 repetitions of each exercise with 3 sets.

On day two, exercise the back and the biceps. Four exercises for the back and four for the biceps. Also, do 10 repetitions for each of the exercises for 3 sets.

On day three, exercise the leg, thigh, and butt muscles and the shoulders. Four exercise for the legs, and four for the shoulders. Also, for each exercise, do 10 repetitions with 3 sets.

On each day, you need to have four or five exercises for the abdominal muscles. Sit ups, and crunches are two of the exercises that you may want to

You have to remember that the key in gaining muscle mass is getting adequate rest and eating foods that are high in protein. When you exercise, you have to remember that you are injuring your muscles in a controlled way. When you injure your muscles, it will repair those injuries by adding more muscle tissues. And, in order for the muscles to repair itself, you need to let it rest. Eating foods that are rich in protein, such as beef and soya milk protein will be able to make the muscle repair process faster and also make it stronger.

This is why body building exercises have intervals when it comes to exercising each muscle group. It allows each of the muscle group to have enough time to repair itself.

It is also very important to remember that you should exercise every muscle group stated. Besides, you can’t expect to have a great looking biceps, triceps or chest if the back can’t support it. You also need to exercise your back in order for you to develop the chest, biceps, and triceps. Also, you have to exercise the shoulders in order for you to develop your arms. Everything is connected.

These are the things that you have to remember about body building or muscle gain. Always remember that resting is very important. Allow the muscles you exercised today to rest for two days. Get enough sleep and eat foods with high protein content and you will be able to gain muscle in no time at all.

By David Hobson | www.pressdistribution.net

If you have spent all your life inside the gym just to find out that nothings happening aside from muscle pains then you must be doing something really wrong. You have to assess yourself. Fact is, gaining muscle mass can’t be done in just a day. You cant even see it coming even if weeks have already passed. Muscle gain is achieved only after months of rigid exercise and it requires lots and lots of devotion and determination in order for your body building program to work.

Either way, here are five of the most effective ways to help you boost up your knowledge and skills in totally achieving your muscle growth goal. You can choose to follow these tips or guidelines just in case.

Have a meaty diet

In order to increase the mass of your body, you have to increase protein intake. That would be simple, right? Meats should be categorized as red meat because they contain certain nutrients that are required for your muscles to grow. You dont need scientists to figure that one out. You just need to combine protein with the right kind of food like veggies or juice drinks which will help you to further acquire the buffer you need.

Use weights, the free ones

Here, you can use the usual dumbbells in order to add to the movements of your exercise. This equipment can also improve your ancillary muscles in order to have a wider range of motion. Free weights are also helpful in increasing the number of muscles that you want.

Safety first

Above all else, before and after you start your routine in the gym, you have to observe proper safety in order to avoid or prevent any injuries that may occur. When youre bodybuilding, be sure that you take it one step at a time. Dont combine heavy weight with intensive sessions of workouts because you make yourself more vulnerable to get injured. Its very common for bodybuilders to experience strains, torn and disc slips. You can avoid these things from happening just by being more aware of the different precautionary measures. You also might want to warm up so that your bodys circulation will be more efficient once you start the real session.

Flirt with alternatives

If you think that you already have met your requirements for your body, you can do other maximums in order to assess yourself. This will give you the opportunity to check the status of your overall strength. However, when you do something more strenuous, you have to make sure that your muscles can handle the stress otherwise it will have a negative feedback on your muscles. Thus, in the duration of your bodybuilding time, you are still expected and recommended that you increase the weight.

Observe for improvements

In order to assess that you have achieved something, you have to determine how far youve come. You can check your present status from other people or muscle teams. This will teach you other terms on how to improve some areas of your strengths and weaknesses. In observing people, you will be able to see how far youve come in gaining muscle mass or how much more there is to do.

Comparison is always effective to improve someones ideals and capabilities.
