Default Greetings from the Elissaverse!

Hi there:

My name is Elissa, although I respond to any and all variations: Elise, Eliza, Elsa, Hey You...whatever. I'm a fledgling health/fitness writer and moderator for Will Brink's "Bodybuilding Revealed" and "Fat Loss Revealed" sites.

When I'm not pounding the keyboard, I'm either in the gym or hanging with my family: John (hubby), Ryan (aka "Number-One-Son"), Nicole ("Nicky"), Jake (dog) and Kirby (cat/idiot).

I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone on the forum.

Best wishes to all!
E.

Elissa, It's great to be in this forum with you. I would like to add that you are a Super Moderatrex too!

If no one wants to join, at least we can chat with each other.

Btw, I don't recall the ages of your sons, what are they in to?

LOL - people will join eventually...the place is far from ready yet. In fact, Number One Son (he's "Deadly Spike") crashed the arcade at least half a dozen times yesterday. He racked up a score of nearly 60,000 on Space Invaders, for example, which the database apparently couldn't handle. So even though he's the declared champion on most of the games now, the posted scores aren't even close to his top scores.

Actually I only have one son: Nick's a gurl like me . Ryan is 17, Nick is 14.

Ryan's into online gaming and war simulation games, rock climbing, history/politics and chemistry/physics. "Deadly Spike" is his user name over at Obsidian Dragon.

Nick's in gifted ed, and a born writer - which is a blessing and curse...obviously, it's a blessing to have a creative child. But her teachers get cheezed because when she's bored in class (which is often), she'll pull out her notebook and start writing instead of listening to them.

They're both interesting people...there's a pervasive myth that teenagers are tough to deal with. TBH, I had a harder time dealing with them as younger children. They're people now, with their own thoughts and opinions, and we have a lot to talk about.

Sounds like two great kids you have there. Are they athletic too? My boy is 9 now and is starting to get ideas about things. It's amusing to see how he uses his understanding of things to reason. Other times it's bothersome to see how he trys to manipulate things his way.

I am encouraging him to play outside as much as possible and enjoy an active lifestyle rather than stay inside and watch tube and play electronic games. Occasionaly he whines a bit cause we don't have the gadgets around that other kids at school have, but then I just challenge him to some hoop, catch, silly bike tricks or just plain tag outside and he quickly forgets what it was he was "deprived" of.

Ryan's very much into rock climbing and has a membership at a training facility: Urban Krag. He likes golf and bowling too. But he's not into conventional sports (i.e., football, basketball). This fits: he's not a conventional kid. He's cerebral without being nerdy.

Nick loathes organized sports/games. She likes to ride her bike and skate/skateboard - so she's active enough. But she likes to do her own thing. She's talkative and gregarious, but not interested in being one of the kewl kidz. She's still very much a kid, and not particularly interested in boys (knock on wood...) or growing up too quickly.

It's natural for anyone - kid or not - to push against constraints and try to manipulate things their way. I don't take that stuff personally and always keep it simple...if sweet reason won't serve, then I employ the "Godfather Principle." Just make 'em an offer they can't refuse...so power struggles are virtually non-existent.

Hey can't chat for long, looks like I'm going to be most likely be a daddy today. It's not that on one want's to join, it's that you, elissa, me and the programmer are the only people who know about the site right now. I won't really be telling anybody else until it's complete.

Catch you soon.

*** Si, that's exciting news! Will you deliver at home or the hospital? Hope the labor part goes well for your wife. That can be a knock-down-drag-out experience.

Our first and only (labor) about nine years ago, lasted some 36 hours as I recall. The doctor was very patient and finally got him (Layne) out without a Caesarian.

Will you get a tax credit for the young'un there in the UK?

Congratulations

Post Sape -
